As great as NYC is, it’s equally as great to get out to quieter pastures. A few weeks ago, we went up to the Hudson Valley for the weekend and wanted an easy dog-friendly hike. I’m not a huge hiker, as in, I don’t like to hike up a mountain, check out the view, and hike back down punishing my quads and knees the whole way down. Don’t get me wrong, I love the outdoors but more in a let’s-go-sip-wine-on-a-patio kind of way. I’m also down for a walk out in nature, like FLAT nature, and I must be able to do it in my flip flops.

Enter the Bear Hill Preserve.

It’s mostly flat, it has trees, it has big rocks for hiding under, and even better, it has amazing views and is dog friendly. And it’s QUIET. I could hear the buzz of the city still ringing in my ears it was so quiet.

We sprayed ourselves and Zoë with bug spray first (all natural, but of course) because I’m terrified of ticks, and Zoë had fun sniffing all the things.

We followed the trail guide for this hike at this link and I’m going to send you there since there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here. Let me know how you and your pup enjoy the hike by using the hashtag #lindsaystudios when posting to Instagram. Can’t wait to see your photizzles!
